The digital nature of the vNAF has opened a world of technological possibilities along with as many challenges. Mechanical Souls explores some of these capabilities and the ethics presented by the VR options on our screens. As an employee of Mechlife and a participant in an online study, what choices will you make? While much can be altered through VR some very real threats persist. Predators and pests lurk in the arts sector and Mamela Nyamza is intent on exposing and confronting them. She leaves no stone unturned in Pest Control as she embarks upon her valiant mission. An SBYA alumni herself, Nyamza is joined on the programme today by 2020 SBYAs for Visual Arts and Jazz, Blessing Ngobeni and Sisonke Xonti.

If fabulosity is your thing, grab your glitter and accept Tandile Mbatsha’s invitation to enter the Virtual Queerhouse. There’s the possibility of attending the ball and if you are an aspiring performer an additional chance to battle in one of several categories. The crown may be virtual, but the sense of pride will be very real. The party mood continues as the Nyege Nyege Festival shares the sounds of the continent with musicians from Kampala, Mali and Dar es Salaam and Gengetone and Ghom to ensure that the Friday feeling continues apace. If the music inspires you to create your own, Sean Davenport will be teaching you how to do just that as he presents an introduction to Modular Synthesis using (free to use) Virtual CV Rack software.
